You can run a tanking loadout with Hallowed Armor/Warding Accessories and abuse the fact that Blade Staff relies more on linear defense piercing and Summon Tag more than percentage boosts. Stack Durendal/Spinal Tap or Durendal/Snapthorn for maximum damage and Summon Tag bonuses and shred through Plantera.It's quite an insane weapon if you build around it. Ichor is invaluable with these guys, as well as a whip with summon tag (Likely Snapthorn, the earliest option available from way back in pre-hardmode).
